Nsenga backs Silverbacks ahead of Mak 10s contest

HAVING reached the semi-finals of the Plates Cup in last year’s Hima-Makerere 10 aside tournament, Silverbacks Coach Gerald Nsenga is optimistic that his team can bring home some silverware at this year’s edition which gets underway this Saturday.

Silverbacks are drawn in Pool D alongside tournament hosts Hima Impis, Summerkamp and Pirates. The top two will progress into the quarter-finals of the Main and Plate Cup while the third and fourth finishers will proceed to the semi-finals of the Bowl and Shield category.

Nsenga told Times Sport that he had assembled a very good team capable of winning a trophy.

"The boys are very eager to win some silverware outside of Rwanda. Our target is to finish inside the first two sides in the pool and then move on from there,” the former Buffaloes’ star said.

"It is very important that we qualify for the Main or Plate Cup,” he added.

The team leaves for Kampala on Friday. MTN Heathens are the reigning champions.

Pool B: Mwamba, utl Kobs, Strathmore, Entebbe Mongers
Pool C: Nakuru, Hima Impis II, Lusaka, Buffaloes
