MUHANGA - Officials of the Labor Party of Rwanda (PSR) in Muhanga have been called upon to promote democracy, good governance and the need for having peaceful, free and fair elections.

The call was made by Member of Parliament Hon. Jean Baptiste Rucibigango during the one-day training on democracy, civic education and the importance of elections, held at GM Lando Hotel yesterday.

Participants pledged to sensitize Rwandans on the forthcoming elections, and promote free and fair elections as a means of building a democratic nation.

The training attracted PSR representatives from eight districts in the province. Five representatives from each district will be elected to represent their respective communities in the 4th PSR national congress, to be held in Kigali soon.

The PSR faithful demanded to know if the party will present a presidential candidate in the 2010 elections. Rucibigango told them that the party will not present a candidate saying that; "our primary concern is to have Rwandans live a better life, welfare and resolve problems of Rwandans.”

A similar training will be held in Karongi district and the objective of the party is to increase on the residents’ awareness of elections and participation.
