THIS year’s cricket calendar will crown off with the annual Utexrwa Cup. Attracting the traditional five clubs, the exciting 20/20 tournament gets underway this Sunday with two games on cards.

Reigning champions Kigali Cricket Club (KCC) open their title defense against under-achievers Right Guards while last year’s losing finalists Challengers encounter Young Tigers later in the afternoon.

The six-week event will climax with the final on December 6.

Last year, four-time Sulfo league champions KCC pulled off a two-wicket victory over Challengers to win their first major tournament in two years. Jasat Mehboob was the architect of the victory following his 19 runs and 5-wicket haul.
