Three illicit brew suspects charged

RWAMAGANA - Three people accused of brewing illicit alcohol and drug abuse were on Monday charged at Kigabiro primary Court, in Rwamagana District. 

Fidelle Nzanana, Judith Mukankezabera and Jean Ndikubwami of Nyaruvumu, Rukira in Ngoma District were recently caught red-handed by the police, while distilling illicit beer locally known as Kanyanga. 

The trio however, denied the charges, and were remanded to Nsinda prison. 

In a related development, a 16-year old girl (names withheld) who allegedly dumped her newly born baby in a pit latrine was also charged with murder.

The incident took place in Cyasemakamba-Kibungo sector, Ngoma District.Witnesses say the suspect deliberately dumped the baby in her neighbour’s pit latrine. 

The girl however, denied the charges, arguing that it was an accident.

"I never did anything intentional…I didn’t know when the baby came out, it was all out of naivety,” she said. 
She was remanded to Nsinda prison for 30 days.
