Members of local football governing body (FERWAFA) will elect new executive committee on August 30, federation secretariat announced on Monday.
The stand in committee led by president Alphonse Munyantwari has been office since June 2023. Munyatwari took office after his predecessor Olivier Mugabo resigned from the position citing personal reasons.
According to Ferwafa Electoral commission president Jean Claude Rugera, the commission will be receiving applications for interested candidates between July 10 and July 19.
The candidatures will be examined between July 21-26 before announcing the provisional list of approved candidates on July 28. Aspirants with rejected candidatures will be allowed to appeal between July 30 and August 4.
The final list of candidates will be made official on August 12.
According to the elections calendar released on Monday, July 7, the election campaigns for qualified candidates will officially start on August 13 and run through August 29, just one day before the elections.
According to the new FA elections format, the candidate for the president position will present a list of members of the executive committee.
New executive committee to be elected:
President
First vice president in charge of Finance and administration
Second Vice president in charge of technical matters
Commissioner in charge of Finance
Commissioner in charge of Women's Football
Commissioner in charge of Organizing Committee for FERWAFA
Competitions include Commissioner in charge of Technical and Development Committee
Commissioner in charge of legal and governance committee
Commissioner in charge of refereeing
Committee Commissioner in charge of Medical Committee.
The list shall have at least three women, one of which shall hold either the position
of President, First vice-president or Second vice-president.
