After a highly anticipated but initially unfortunate no-show on the opening night of Rwanda Convention 2025 in Dallas, Rwandan music stars The Ben, Kevin Kade, and Element Eleeeh finally took to the stage on Saturday, July 5, and delivered a performance that restored excitement among attendees.

Element Eleeeh was the first to hit the stage and expectations were high on his very first performance in the US.
The producer and singer introduced himself to his music lovers in Dallas with a soulful performance of his most loved hits like ‘Tombe,’ and ‘Milele’. He was later followed by Kevin Kade, whose signature stage energy had the crowd on their feet.
The Ben’s time on stage had revelers reminiscing on his famous songs from years back, creating a high energy atmosphere that reminded why he remains one of Rwanda’s most celebrated voices.
The highlight of the night came when the three artistes joined forces to perform their collaborative track "Sikosa.” As the crowd sang along, it was clear that they put their early frustration out of the venue which was clearly full of joy and celebration.
The trio’s appearance follows a missed Meet & Greet and performance at Hobe Night, originally scheduled for the first day of the event on Friday. Their absence sparked frustration among fans and prompted a public apology from organisers AfroHub Music and Afrique Events.
It was, however, established that the artistes weren’t contracted to perform at Hobe Night which had scheduled Massamba Intore as the main headliner before he canceled his trip to the US to accompany National Ballet Urukerereza for a performance in Japan on the very same date.
"They wanted them (artistes) to perform at a side gig which wasn&039;t in what was agreed in the contract," a member of Kevin Kade’s management told The New Times.
"That couldn't happen unless they had to pay. They asked for payment but they didn't want to pay."
Still, on the second night, the mood had shifted, and the artistes’ performances helped restore excitement to the three-day diaspora gathering, which has drawn hundreds of Rwandans from across the globe.
Host Ally Soudy extended the stage to more Rwandan artistes based in the United States as the likes of former Dream Boys star TMC and Navytune. Many have known the latter as MYP in former music crew Kigali Boys (KGB).
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Olivier Nduhungirehe and Rwandan evnoy to the United States Mathilde Mukantabana were among high-level officials who followed the performances. Renowned music investor Coach Gael was also in attendance.
The Rwanda Convention will conclude on Sunday with a Prayer Breakfast featuring celebrated gospel artiste Meddy as the main performing act, alongside Apostle Gitwaza, who will bring a spiritual close to the weekend of cultural celebrations.
