Rayon Sports FC head coach Francis Christian Haringingo has called on his team to return to winning ways after the 2-1 defeat to title rivals SC Kiyovu in the Rwanda Premier League.

Rayon Sports will be seeking to beat Mukura so that they can remain in the title race.

Having already suffered one loss this term, Rayon Sports are sitting in second place with two points behind SC Kiyovu, but Haringingo is confident his men can still win the league.

He said the players need to give 100 percent of their capacity. It is reported that they were promised big bonuses if they beat AS Kigali.

"We want to win the game. The league has a lot of matches so we need to have teamwork, coordination, and, more importantly, training players to stick to the game plan and execute tactics. A win over AS Kigali would bring us back into the contest. It is a very important match,” he said.

Haringingo, still trying to make the ‘Blues’ a solid group, faces Mukura on November 20 at Kigali Stadium.

The Burundian is tasked to lead Rayon Sports to the league title but before that, the fans want wins in every game. So, failure to beat Mukura would pile more pressure on the coach.

"We have to keep working hard and making sure that we create chances that will help us become dangerous in front of goal. After losing to Kiyovu, we want to bounce back against Mukura. I want players to not only get three points but also give a good performance,” Haringingo said.

Haringingo, who went six games with an unbeaten run before losing 2-1 against Kiyovu, believes that with time, his team will get better results in a long season that has 22 games to go.

Rayon will be looking to continue their push in trying to close in on the top of the table as Kiyovu is leading with 20 points.

Three years without major silverware in the cabinet, Rayon Sports are keen to end the jinx by winning the Rwanda Premier League.

After tasting relative success in the Caf Confederation Cup, in 2018, when they reached the quarterfinal – the first time for any Rwandan club – Rayon Sports is determined to make a return, but this time in CAF Champions League.

Rayon has won nine league titles: in 1975, 1981, 1997, 1998, 2002, 2004, 2013, 2017, and 2019.
