The leaders made the decision on Wednesday, October 22 at the closure of the four-day training on the land law at St. Andre center-Kabgayi
The training attracted 60 participants. It was sponsored by an International NGO ,RCN Justice & Democracy in conjunction with the Belgian Government and Sendika- Ingabo a local NGO.
Madina Ndangiza, the RCN official, said: "It is important to equip leaders and residents with knowledge on the new land law so as to disseminate the same knowledge on land use as well as rights to others. The beneficiaries of this training will also be in a position to resolve land-related disputes and involve the community in safeguarding their land.”
The participants said that the training was timely. "We are ready to educate others and correct some of the errors made in the past, in order to enhance proper land usage and output,” François Nsanzintwali, a Sendika-Ingabo official said.
Similar training will be conducted in Kamonyi, Ruhango and Nyanza in due course, where 180 local leaders are expected to participate, according to RCN officials.
