Two Rwanda Defense Forces (RDF) senior officers have been arrested on allegations of negligence of duty.

RDF Spokesman Major Jill Rutaremara confirmed the arrest yesterday evening.

The officers are Col. Wilson Kazungu, the deputy commandant of the 211 brigade together with Maj. Bosco Higiro, acting commanding officer of the 75 battalion deployed in Rubavu district, Western Province.

they are being detained at Mulindi military Prison.   "The two officers have no criminal case; they were arrested on administrative measures because of ineffective command and control,” Rutaremara said.

He added that their arrest was order by the RDF headquarters.

"The decision to arrest them came as away of enforcing discipline and control of forces,” he said.

  He however declined to mention when exactly the two officers  were arrested and the specific ‘administrative mistakes’ they committed .
