Cyclists switch focus to Namibia tour

AFTER finishing third in the tour of Senegal, Team Rwanda has now switched their focus to the prestigious African continental Road cycling championship slated for November 4 - 8 in Windhoek-Namibia. Team Rwanda came third in Senegal behind Champions Egypt and the host nation.

AFTER finishing third in the tour of Senegal, Team Rwanda has now switched their focus to the prestigious African continental Road cycling championship slated for November 4 - 8 in Windhoek-Namibia.

Team Rwanda came third in Senegal behind Champions Egypt and the host nation.

Team Rwanda’s Nathan Byukusenge finished as the tour’s best climber to win the red jersey.

The team’s impressive performance has left National Cycling boss Aimable Bayingana optimistic.

"The boys did really well considering the poor organization of the event,”Bayingana said.

In Namibia, over 18 African countries are expected compete in the annual event which will include a road race, an individual time trial and a team trial. Male cyclists will compete in the senior and Under 23 categories, while female cyclists will compete in the senior category.
