Disi wins Reims Half Marathon

AFTER a successive rout of gold medals in two races, Rwanda’s long distance ace Dieudonne Disi won another gold medal in the Reims Half marathon race over the weekend in France.

The 29-year old athlete recorded one hour, one minute and thirteen seconds to set the fastest time. Ethiopia’s Michael Tesfay and Kenyan Leonard Langat finished second and third respectively.

Disi has now switched his focus to the IAAF silver label road race dubbed Classique Internationale Marseille-Cassismoreless set for this Sunday.

Classique Internationale Marseille-Cassismoreless, a regular event on the French Athletic Federation and IAAF is also listed on the world’s top 50 races.

With huge cash prizes on offer, over 12,000 athletes are expected to grace the race.

Disi has now swept four gold medals in a space of four weeks. He has won the Paris 20km race, Paris-Versailles half marathon and the 10,000m event at the 2009 Francophone Games where he was also named athlete of the Games and consequently awarded the ‘Assemblée Parlementaire de la Francophonie’ medal.

He will be eying his fourth gold medal next Sunday when he faces the world’s elite runners in the Classique Internationale Marseille-Cassismoreless.
