The forthcoming central and local government meeting scheduled for this week, will focus on how doing business at the grassroots levels can be enhanced, Local Government minister has said.

According to Minister Christopher Bazivamo, the meeting to be held in Kigali will bring together Cabinet Ministers with members of both executive and advisory committees at district and regional levels.

"We always meet to review the policies that were put in place and to see if they have been implemented, if not, we find ways of implementing them before the year ends, but this upcoming meeting will focus on improving the way business is done at grassroots,” the Minister said.

He emphasized the need for easing business at the grassroots levels for the country to continue enjoying the fruits that come with it.

He said the meeting will discuss how to improve service delivery within the local government and encourage leaders to work hard on development projects that have been assigned to them.

"We want leaders to start going to the field and talk to the people and explain the government programmes,” he said.

"Leaders need to reduce their time in the offices and only  be in the offices while working on a few necessary things.

They should learn to work with the people if we are to realize development.”

Among other things to be discussed include; the land use consolidation programme, agriculture and security.
