NYAGATARE - Elections for new Nyagatare District leaders will be held tomorrow, a district official announced.

Last month, Nyagatare district leadership committee was dissolved after the Mayor and his two deputies in charge of Economic and Social Affairs were sacked over alleged mismanagement of public funds.

"We have so far held prior elections of advisors in different sectors who will select candidates to fill vacant posts in the district. We are preparing to ensure that the elections are successful,” Arcad Kamanzi, the District Advisory Council president said yesterday.

Meanwhile, Kamanzi said that the advisory meeting sat and temporarily appointed the district executive secretary as an interim mayor.

"We met as advisory council team and basing on the law we appointed Mary Mukantabana as the interim mayor, as such we are offering her all the support she needs to enable  her to undertake her duties diligently,” Kamanzi said.
