The festival will be held at Nengo Eden Park Hotel

As Afro House continues to make waves in Kigali’s creative scene, Rwanda is seeing a rise in events that bring fans of the genre together in new ways. For the first time, the shores of Lake Kivu will pulse with Afro House beats when Ivy Summer Fest opens July 4 at Nengo Eden Park Hotel in Rubavu.

The two-day festival introduces the vibrant genre to Rwanda’s Western Province, adding a fresh chapter to the country’s evolving music culture. The lineup features a blend of local and regional talent, including some of Rwanda’s key Afro House figures such as DJ Lamper and DJ K’ru.

Popular performers Element Eleeh, Bushali, and Yampano will also take the stage, joined by fan favorites DJ Kiss and DJ Brianne.

"This is more than just a festival. It’s a cultural first,” said event organizer Baudelet Jonathan. "We’re proud to bring Afro House to Rubavu. It’s a genre we believe will deeply resonate with Rwandan audiences.”

Popular media personality Muyango will host the event, adding to the energy and atmosphere throughout the weekend.

While the music remains the heart of the festival, organizers say Ivy Summer Fest is also a broader celebration of Rwandan creativity, youth culture, and Rubavu’s growing cultural scene.

Jonathan noted that the festival is expected to draw visitors from across Rwanda and neighboring countries, boosting local tourism and stimulating the economy through hotels, restaurants, vendors, and employment opportunities in logistics, security, and hospitality.

Organizers also hope the event will provide a platform for young creatives to showcase their work, positioning Rubavu as Rwanda’s next cultural hotspot.

Tickets are now available for purchase, with prices set at Rwf18,000 for regular admission, Rwf28,000 for VIP, and Rwf388,000 for a table of five.
