JANVIER Ugeziwe is still confident that Rwanda Rugby Federation (RRF) will secure a permanent rugby pitch.

The senior RRF official says that the federation’s key partners Friends of Rwandan Rugby still have the project as a priority.

The UK-based association are already said to have raised Rwf10m, half of what is needed to lay the pitch.

"They managed to raise Frw10m and we are now talking to a number of local companies to help us raise the other half,” Ugeziwe said.

Over the years, Friends of Rwandan Rugby have trained coaches and provided training gear for local players.

Lack of a permanent pitch is one reason why several matches have had to be postponed or forfeited.

Meanwhile, this year’s league champions Buffalos will be crowned champions this weekend. The Remera outfit outpaced Sharks to secure a second successive league title.
