RUTSIRO - Six people are under police custody, in Rutsiro District, in connection with the gruesome murder of 25-year old Justin Ntibibanza whose body was found last  Monday.

Those arrested include, Innocent Munyakazi, a former coordinator of Mushubati Sector and Jerome Mpongempite, a teacher at a nearby primary school.

Ntibibanza, who was a successful businessman in the village, was found dead in his shop the next day by residents. Sources said residents became suspicious after the deceased failed to answer various phone calls.

According to Patrice Hakizimana, an official in charge of social affairs at Mushubati Sector, the death might have been as a result of jealous people who were not happy with Ntibibanza’s successful businesses.

A post-mortem carried out by Dr Jean Nepo Sindikubwabo of Murunda Hospital indicates that the deceased was shot in the head.

"The bullet was fired through the forehead and penetrated the other side of the deceased’s head. It must have been a gun with a silencer as the shot was not heard by nearby neighbours,” Sindikubwabo said.

Early this year, a similar incident occurred in the district in which another businessman  only identified as Daudi was killed.
