Kagarama Lower Instance Court yesterday once again postponed the trial of John Bosco Gasasira, the Editor-in-Chief of a local tabloid, Umuvugizi, , setting the hearing for October 21. The decision by court to push the case to October 21 was based on the fact that Gasasira’s two lawyers were reportedly out of the country and could not make it for yesterday’s hearing.

The decision by court to push the case to October 21 was based on the fact that Gasasira’s two lawyers were reportedly out of the country and could not make it for yesterday’s hearing.
The court president, Silas Nsegiyumva, ruled that article 18 of the Constitution grants the accused the right to have lawyers to defend him.
Nsegiyumva said Gasasira’s defence lawyer, Jean de Dieu Momo from Cameroon had traveled to Congo Brazaville to defend another client.
According to Nsegiyumva, another Rwandan lawyer, Claudine Gasarabwe, was also in England, making it impossible for her to appear in court today.
"I am ready to face court if my lawyers continue having problems. I know justice will prevail,” Gasasira told The New times shortly after the ruling.
Gasasira is in court battling accusations of defamation lodged against him by state prosecutor John Bosco Mutangana and Dr. Diane Gashumba.
