John Bosco Kayitana

John Bosco Kayitana is the Head barista at Bourbon Coffee shop, UTC branch. He is in charge of the coffee department, among other duties. Below, he gives us a peek into his day’s work:

I wake-up at 5a.m and say a prayer. I take a shower and organize to leave for work.

By 6a.m, I must be heading from home in Gatsata to my workplace. It takes me 20 minutes to get there.

Work starts at 6:30a.m. First, I start the machines so that they warm up for about 25 minutes. In addition, I also prepare products like fruits, grind and taste coffee for the day.

I then make coffee and ensure that it is always available. Like all other workers at the shop, at 8a.m, I have breakfast.

Work continues until 2:30p.m when my shift ends. I have a meal and sign off.

I go out to concentrate on personal matters until 9p.m when I get home.

As soon as I get home, all my attention is on my family. We enjoy watching movies, listening to music and news.

I have supper at about that time. Sometimes, I go to bed at 11p.m depending on what I have to do.
