Rwanda forward Axel Mpoyo has admitted that the team has been drawn into a tough group in AfroBasket 2025 finals but insisted that the team will stay focused and aim for victory.

AfroBasket 2025 finals will take place in Angola from August 12–24. Cheikh Sarr’s side was drawn into Group A alongside Côte d’Ivoire, Cape Verde, and DR Congo—an undeniably competitive pool, according to Mpoyo.

"Group A is undoubtedly tough, in my opinion, one of the toughest groups. But our mindset doesn't change. The goal is always to win, so we will be focused and ready to take on this challenge.”

Rwanda booked a spot in AfroBasket 2025 after finishing third in Group C during the second window of the qualifiers held in Rabat, Morocco, in February. It will be the country’s seventh appearance at the continental showpiece since 2007.
