Each, in a final bid to woo academy fans who get to decide who will walk away with Kshs.5million (about Rfw35 million), not to mention a one year recording contract with South Africa’s Gallo Records.
Gallo Records, Africa’s largest and oldest record company has put on offer a one year recording contract for the winner of the show.
The record company is reputed to own 75% of all recordings ever made in South Africa, including those by artists such as Miriam Makeba and Hugh Masekela.
Alpha again brought the roof down during Sunday’s final probations show with an electrifying performance of the late Lucky Dube’s ‘Different Colours’ and got kudos from South Africa’s Gallo record’s honcho Makwekwe on a night dubbed the Africa hit parade.
A stern faced judge Ian Mbugua rounded off a good night for Alpha with positive remarks for his excellent performance, with encouraging but cautious words.
"Don’t get carried away, you are very, very good, you are bound to make an impression in the whole of Africa and the world.”
Voice coach Kavutha Mwanzia-Asiyo, an alumnus of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA and much sought after jazz vocalist summed up Alpha’s performance as electrifying.
Alongside Alpha, is Kenya’s songbird Patricia and King of Comedy, Nganga together with Uganda’s two remaining ladies with voices, Maureen and Caroline.
The music competition is set to draw its curtains down with a season finale next Sunday, October 11, in which all the eliminated contestants, including Rwanda’s Nina Bola and Christian Robert Rwirangira are expected to make a final appearance in Nairobi.
Unlike in the previous weeks, judges and the faculty will have no say in whoever is evicted or takes the prizes. It all boils down to total numbers of votes cast by the academy fans.
For Alpha to win on Sunday, all his fans should vote massively by sending the text "Tusker 3” to 123 as many times as possible, every day, before midnight Friday.
