RWANDA failed to build on their dream start after yesterday’s loss to host nation Malawi in the on-going ICC World Cricket League Division 3 tournament.

After defeating Gambia by seven wickets on Saturday, the team looked like they had built the right confidence for yesterday’s tie. However, poor fielding cost them the match.

Despite restricting Malawi to a fair score of 170, the team fell 47 runs short of the target and Rwanda’s team manager Charles Haba was quick to blame the team’s sloppy fielding for the defeat.

"We dropped five catches today and that is a little too much for one game,” he disappointedly said.

Andre Kayitera stood out as the team’s top performer after scoring 47 runs and picking two wickets.

Rwanda, who were set to play Morocco this morning have a rest day after the latter’s failure to show up.

Meanwhile, pre-tournament favourites Sierra Leone lived up to their billing after Sunday’s emphatic 183-run win over Gambia.

After piling 255runs, Sierra Leone bowled out Gambia for a paltry 72.
