Dear Aunt Silvia,

I am a middle aged man and still a bachelor.  People find it hard to believe that at my age I have never been in any relationship and that am still unmarried and without a child.

I fail to understand why people can’t respect the feelings of others.

Is there anything wrong with being single at 47 years of age? I have never had a girlfriend and I feel comfortable in the company of men or alone.

Bojgo

Dear Bojgo,

Sometimes we human beings find it very hard to believe that there are some people who have never been in relationships in their entire lives, especially when that person is not a catholic brother, priest or Nun whom we all know that it is an open secret that they live in the vow of celibacy until death.

Attraction has got nothing to being queer. Maybe all the women you have met and interacted with had nothing good to show for, especially when it came to you choosing a partner.

But honestly dear brother where have you been living in the better part of your life; In the caves of Timbuktu or in a monastery in Antarctica? It is highly impossible for someone to say they having been interacting for over 20 years and still failed to get a person to love.

We all have different qualities when looking for a partner- but it does not take some one a life time to get a person they love, unless you tell us the truth that you have never been interested in marriage and the fairer sex since you only seem to be at home with the members of your own sex, then it will be a totally different story.

Since you do not seem to be sure as to where you fall in matters of how you feel, I will advise you to get a professional counselor to counsel and guide you through the journey of discovering your true self- then you will be able to live your life to the fullest depending on how you will react to the realities of life.

However, everyone, married or not married, deserves their respect and privacy.
