GATSIBO – Residents of Gatsibo sector have collected Rwf17million meant to support the Community Savings Fund (Umurenge Sacco), making them rank top in the district.

The Sector Executive Secretary, Consolee Urujeni says the residents have heeded the government call to find ways of addressing their own problems.

"In last year’s annual national dialogue, the President called on all Rwandans to shun the culture of dependency by setting up developmental projects. It is in this regard that we had to heed his call by setting up this fund,” she said in an interview on Friday.

She added that the sector prioritises on improving residents’ welfare by helping them set up income generating projects.

According to Urujeni, the sector has also committed to build six classrooms to support the nine-year-Basic Education programmes.
