NYAGATARE  – The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Agnes Kalibata will spearhead efforts to bring to account those accused of financial misappropriation in Codelvam Rice Cooperative. The Minister made the announcement after an audit revealed that Rwf250million was unaccounted for in the cooperative’s coffers.

While meeting members of the cooperative on Wednesday, the Minister assured them that their problems will be sorted out within the next two weeks.

However, the members blamed their leaders for the loss, and the leaders who allegedly embezzled the money have since resigned.

The members also accuse the current top management of failing to meet their needs.  The members further accuse  the leadership of the cooperative of   incompetence.

"This is why I have come here along with officials in charge of cooperatives in the ministry.

I have heard your complaints and we are going to discuss about these issues in which the problems will be solved within two weeks,” Kalibata said.   The cooperative has over 800 members.
