RIP: Jeanne Kanyange

Thousands of Christians, friends and relatives Wednesday thronged Remera cemetery to bid farewell to renowned Pastor Jeanne Kanyange who passed away early this week.

During his eulogy, Charles Rangira, an uncle to the deceased said the senior pastor and founder of Prayer Palace Church in Remera succumbed to a brain tumour at King Faysal Hospital.

"She was my friend, a determined woman who loved her country very much that she sacrificed herself for it,” Rangira said amidst sobs from mourners.

"It started slowly when she felt constant headaches and took aspirin tablets as pain killers but it repeatedly came back until she was taken to hospital unconscious,” Rangira said.

Born January 1, 1958, Kanyange is survived by one daughter Yvonne Rwigema and two adopted children.

Before being taken to her final resting place, a 5-hour farewell church service was held at Sports View Hotel.

Testimonies of several people she helped during her lifetime, were heard.
