NEW Signing Abbas Rassou scored a hat trick as ten-time league champions APR hammered rivals SC Kiyovu 4-1 in the final of the Pre-Season tournament yesterday at Amahoro stadium.

Abbas, enjoying a second spell at the club, scored crucial goals for the military side on 19th, 36th and 54th minutes before substitute Leon Cedric put the icing on the cake on the 71st minute. Inshuti Idesbrand scored the consolation for the old giants.

APR won Rwf5m staked by the Ministry of Sports and Culture (Minispoc) while Kiyovu pocketed Rwf3m.

The final was preceded by a third-place playoff clash between Amagaju and Etincelles.

Amagaju thrashed Etincelles 3-1 to finish third in the tournament. Hussein Amani, Pablo Nduwimana and an own goal from Etincelles defender Jerome Gapasi wrapped up a fruitful campaign for the Southern Province side.

Etincelles bagged Rwf1.5m for the effort while Amagaju settled for Rwf1m.

The tournament was a curtain raiser to next season which starts on October 17.
