GATSIBO - Residents of Ngarama Sector in Gatsibo District have collected Rwf7 million towards education promotion in the area.

This was revealed on Wednesday during a ceremony to celebrate the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF- Inkotanyi) achievements.

The celebrations, held at Ngarama sector grounds, brought together party committee representatives from Umudugudu (community settlements) up to the sector level.

Speaking at the ceremony, the sector party chairman, Theogene Manzi told party faithfuls that the RPF has made tremendous achievements in the last six years.

"We cannot get enough time to enumerate all what our party has achieved …But it is crucial to announce some of the out standing achievements we have made,” he said.

He cited formation of cooperatives like Umurenge Ssacco and One cow-per-family programme, as being among the biggest achievements, which he said have helped residents to fight poverty.

Others cited include registering residents in health insurance schemes and providing education for all.

"We have been emerging the best in providing health insurance scheme in the district and country at large. It is not a small feat,” he said.

Members also noted that a lot has been achieved in infrastructural development.

"There is a resident of this area who was released from prison after 13 years and got lost when he reached here. He could not trace back his home area after it went through changes,” one of the party members testified.

During the ceremony, party members received lessons on patriotism and good governance. They were also briefed on the party’s goals which need to be accomplished.
