MUSANZE—A woman who was bitten by a stray dog in Nyange sector, Musanze District has appealed for financial support to enable her get necessary treatment.

The woman who gave her name only as Mukankuranga 50, was attacked by a dog while visiting her neighbour’s home.

After being bitten, Mukankuranga was rushed to Ruhengeri Hospital later  being referred to King Faisal Hospital in Kigali.

"The owners of the dog have refused to meet the treatment bills. I cannot afford to get money for transport and medical bills. I am appealing to everyone who can help me to come forward,’’ she appealed.

However, when contacted, the owner of the dog Salomon Nshogoza said he was not responsible for the elderly woman’s predicament, arguing that the dog which bit her belongs to his 15 year old son and his wife.

The area veterinarian, Habimana Rutete says any person bitten by unvaccinated dogs can face severe health consequences unless they acquire immediate treatment.
