Editor,

Last weeks performance by Alpha in Tusker Project Fame left me astounded by the over whelming talent that he has.

I am encouraged by the support that he has received from local fans and I would especially like to congratulate The New Times for the strip you run last week on your webpage and the hard copies to mobilise Rwandans to vote for him.

Its amazing what Rwandans can do when we set our minds to it. I feel that Alpha’s journey is no longer his own but ours as well, He is spearheading what we have wanted to achieve in a long time in terms of our music, He has demonstrated that we have what it takes to produce music that competes with the rest of the region.

We are blessed to be multilingual and this gives us an advantage. Whether Alpha wins or not, he has opened the road for our local musicians to dream so that they can produce music that targets the whole region.

I am proud to be in Rwanda at a time like this when every industry is budding and music is not being left behind.

I only hope that we will not let this chance pass; rather we will take it up and utilise it for our own benefit and that of our neighbours.

So today, I wish Alpha the best.
