RNOC president Ignace Beraho and secretary general Freddy Somayire fly to Copenhagen, Denmark this evening for the 13th International Olympic Committee (IOC) Congress which starts today.

Top on the congress agenda are the elections for the 2016 Olympic Games host.

Till date, Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo are locked in a tight contest.

In a related development, U.S. President Barack Obama is scheduled to travel to Copenhagen to lobby on behalf of Chicago. Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will be in Denmark to back Rio while Madrid’s bid team will have Spanish King Juan Carlos and Queen Sophia, as well as Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.
