A US-based activist in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Marvelyn Brown, is set to visit the country next week. According to a statement from the US Embassy in Kigali, Brown, a 25-year old native from Tennessee was diagnosed with HIV at the age of 19 and uses personal testimony and real-life experiences to inform and educate audiences about HIV/AIDS.

According to a statement from the US Embassy in Kigali, Brown, a 25-year old native from Tennessee was diagnosed with HIV at the age of 19 and uses personal testimony and real-life experiences to inform and educate audiences about HIV/AIDS.
"Her talks in the United States with youth, educators, health workers, caretakers, media and HIV/AIDS infected persons have inspired audiences to greater compassion and moved them to help others,” the statement says.
Under the theme, "Innovative ways of integrating HIV Prevention and Sex Education into the media,” Brown will open up to journalists at a conference that will be held at the American Embassy in Rwanda.
Officials add that this will be the first time the activist will be visiting Rwanda. Brown’s autobiography, The Naked Truth: Young, Beautiful and (HIV) Positive, was published last year.
