KAMONYI - Pastors of Rwanda Church of God, have called on their followers to spearhead healing, unity and reconciliation within their respective communities.

Pastor Emmanuel Rugazura, the provincial church representative, made the call while closing a two-day retreat on Healing and Reconciliation, at Kayumbu Parish Church last week.

Rugazura said that their church needs to overcome the past and present internal conflicts in order to rally Christians behind development.

Rwanda Church of God has previously been rocked by controversies including leadership wrangles and Genocide related accusations.

Some pastors have accused each other of promoting genocide ideology. One, Pastor, only identified as Mariyabwana, has since been imprisoned for Genocide crimes.

Rugazura urged Christians to focus on Christian values of love, unity and reconciliation. ‘There is need to seek the will of God in our lives so as to help each other in reviving a new Christian community marked with love,” he said.

At the retreat, a number of Christians sought to amend broken bonds by reconciling with those they aggrieved.

The group later participated in community work to construct classrooms for Giko Catholic schools.
