MUSANZE - Police in Musanze District have arrested a man who allegedly attempted to kill his sister over land.
Thomas Bagora was arrested on Sunday night in possession of a hand grenade-thanks to the exposure by a local defence personnel, who had reportedly been earlier hired to execute the plan for Rwf150,000.

The accused was arrested before he detonated the grenade, at which he admitted that he wanted to eliminate his sister.

According to the target of the foiled attack, Leocadie Nyirabazamanza, their wrangle started after court ruled in her favour over the administration of their parents’ property. The same court ordered Bagora to pay a fine of Rwf150,000.

Nyirabazamanza claims this was the second attempt on her life. Bagora, she said, had previously attempted to kill her, which forced her to flee to find another home.

"At one time he sent people to come and kill me, they instead found my daughter and removed her eye, he would uproot my crops,’’ she narrated her ordeal with tears in her eyes.

Commenting on the incident, the District Police Commander, Supt J Claude Kajeguhakwa, noted that residents should be security conscious by reporting suspicious cases.
