Over 30 district schools inspectors from around the country are undergoing a one week training course on how to provide a conducive learning environment for children with disabilities.

The inspectors are being trained by experts from Kenya.
According to the Kigali Regional Inspector of Schools; Gerald Rutali, the training will equip the inspectors with the skills necessary to help them be able to solve the many problems children living with disabilities go through while at school.

"Research shows that these children meet numerous problems in schools which range from lack of trained teachers who specialize in teaching these children with special needs, to lack of teaching equipment to help them in this task,” explained Rutali.

Rutali also said that they were going to call upon school head teachers to work with the respective districts and the Ministry of Education to avail the needed equipments in schools.

Speaking to The New Times, the Southern Region Inspector of Schools; Livingstone Muhire, said that the training would also help them fully understand the problems that children with disabilities face while at school.

He highlighted the biggest problem being faced by many schools as lack of enough teachers who cater for children on every level.
