THE highlight of Saturday’s September MTN Mug was a close contest between two Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Generals; Frank Mugambage and Caesar Kayizari.

The duo, who were playing in their first competitive tournament were neck to neck until the back nine when Mugambage finally broke loose to win the contest after returning 15 stableford points.

After receiving his winner’s prize, Mugambage commended his comrade for the effort.

"It was a tough contest all the way but I’m happy that I won. We are now part of the Kigali Golf Club family and we promise to bring more of our colleagues here,” he said.

"We would like to see the family of golf grow further.”
In the main category (handicap 0-9), Aaron Musonda walked away with a trophy and 3G modem after carding 72net to win the category while Linda Mugeni was presented with an MTN blackberry curve after an impressive 67net in the ladies category.

In the paid ranks, Jean Baptist Hakizimana played one-under Par beating Emmanuel Ruterana by three strokes.

The competition, which had a shot-gun tee-off, attracted 64 golfers.
