KIREHE- Police in Kirehe District are holding a woman who allegedly stabbed her husband to death, after she discovered he was having an  extra-marital affair.

Marie Rose Izamunyitire of Gahara sector is said to have killed Yohan Seburoko on Monday at about 10.00 pm.

The family’s neighbours say the couple’s relationship was full of wrangles with local leaders often intervening.

"The woman accused him of having an extra-marital affair and in the ensuing quarrel she rushed to the kitchen and picked a knife and attacked him,” an eye witness said, adding that she stabbed the deceased in the lower abdomen.

Security officials who arrived at the scene shortly after the incidence, say the accused panicked and sought help from her neighbours after attacking her husband who was lying in a pool of blood.

Security authorities said upon her arrest, Izamunyitire claimed that she stabbed her husband in self defence after he had attacked her.
