HUYE - The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Monique Nsanzabaganwa, last week urged residents to take part in the education of their children by providing them with wisdom and discipline. She also called for cooperation between teachers and parents.

The Minister made this remark in Mukura Sector while officially inaugurating the construction exercise of classrooms in preparation of the 9-Year Basic Education programme (9-YBE).

"School gives knowledge but providing children with wisdom, discipline and values that makes them worthy to live in society calls for cooperation between teachers and parents,” she said.

The Minister said that building classrooms is not enough, she called upon parents to closely follow the education of their children by interacting with their teachers and school administration.

The Minister hailed the courage, collective effort, and good organization exhibited by residents in constructing classrooms.

District Mayor, Francois Uhagaze, noted that classroom construction will be carried out through community work and that residents will set a timetable that suits their work programmes.
