APR vs UGB

APR and United Generation Basketball will rub shoulders in the final of the regional Genocide Memorial Basketball Tournament on Sunday, April 27 at Petit Stade indoor gymnasium.

The pair reached the final after eliminating Tanzania’s Dar City and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) respectively in the semifinals which took place at the same venue on Saturday.

UGB beat KPA 77-55 before APR overpowered Dar City 81-68.

During the second semifinal game of the day between APR and Dar City, Malian center Aliou Diarra scored a game high 18 points for APR while his teammate Axel Mpoyo added 12 points.

Deng Dhieu posted 28 points for Dar City and his teammate Kylian Rotardier contributed 14 points but APR were too tough to overcome.

The Genocide Memorial Basketball Tournament is organised annually in honour of members of the basketball fraternity who lost their lives during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

This year’s edition featured six men’s teams, including two foreign teams, divided into two groups.
