Miss ISAE crowned

Sandra Clarisse Ishimwe has been crowned the 2009-10 Miss Higher Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry-ISAE.

Sandra Clarisse Ishimwe has been crowned the 2009-10 Miss Higher Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry-ISAE.  

The beauty contest, the second of its kind at the university, attracted four contestants.

Ishimwe was awarded Rwf150,000 and cosmetics.

Dian Rwigema and Leatitia Umuzaire who were the first and second runner’s up respectively, got Rwf130000, and 120,000 plus cosmetics.

While Alice Mukamugema who trailed others walked away with Rwf80, 000. 

The colourful ceremony was graced by musicians Kay-J, Mishiki, The Rain, and traditional dancers.

The artistes thrilled the highly congested auditoria with ground shaking music, as local neighbours and hundreds of students watched from projectors in different rooms.

The contest involved a quiz to test the girls’ knowledge on general issues, public presentation, modeling in traditional wear, casual, evening wear.  

Speaking after she was crowned, Ishimwe said she would spearhead the campaign against ‘sugar daddies,’ and promote gender clubs in schools.

She urged girls to avoid unwanted pregnancies, and desist from reckless sexual behavior to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS.

The university Rector, Dr Charles Kalemangingo, noted that the function was one way of promoting Rwandan culture and asked the new beauty queen to become a flag bearer for the institute.

The even was sponsored by SULFO, SMS media, Manumetal, Musanze Community Radio and Hotel la Palme.
