A Rwandan Artist, Epaphrodite Binamungu is exhibiting 50 paintings worth 13.1 million at Laico Umubano hotel.

Binamungu said that the art works under the theme ‘Ngoma’ (drum) depict the rich Rwandan culture through music.

"They also express gender equality with women alongside men in the drumming,” he explained.

The exhibition that started Wednesday shall run for two weeks. According to the price list, the cheapest piece goes for Rwf50,000 while the most expensive costs Rwf1 million.

Binamungu said that what matters most is the meaning of the art works not their monetary value.

He has participated in international exhibitions across the world. In 2007, his art painting was sold for Rwf8.5 million in the US.

Binamungu said that this is the highest value ever paid for his art work.
