Miss UNATEK to be crowned Friday

Located in the eastern province, UNATEK University is organizing its first-ever beauty pageant.

It’s clear that the culture of beauty contests is spreading across the country like never before.

The trend started in 2007, with Miss Kigali, and shortly after a few months, it kicked off to Universities and higher learning institutions.

Located in the eastern province, UNATEK University is organizing its first-ever beauty pageant.

The event will take place on Friday, September 18, and 10 beauties will compete for the crown.

Ally, one of the event’s organizers said that the objective of the event is to promote the culture of competition and self confidence among Rwandan girls.

"Many people think that the competition is based only on beauty, this is not true,” Ally Niyitegeka explained that there are specific criterions to be considered, such as; intellect, catwalk and physical appearance.

This event which will start at 3:00 p. m, is sponsored by several companies and hotels, including Ameki color, Sulfo, Avega east, Dereva hotel and St. Joseph hotel.

Apart from crowning Miss UNATEK, other activities, such as awarding the best athletes will take place.
