KARONGI – The 201 Brigade of the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF), has distributed over 3000 mosquito nets, to residents of Karongi and Rustiro districts, in a bid to curb malaria incidences in rural areas.

According to Col Emanuel Ruvusha, the Brigade commander of the Kibuye based army unit, the donation also aims at enhancing cooperation between the army and civilians.

"It is partly due to the usual good relationship that exists between soldiers and civilians that we did offered that kind of support,” Ruvusha said.

Everest Niyonsaba, one of the beneficiaries from Bwishyura sector, Karongi District could not hide his excitement after receiving a mosquito net for each of his family members.

"My house has four rooms and I was able to obtain a bed net for each of the four beds. This is really good news,” he said.
