NYAMASHEKE - The former Mayor of Nyamasheke District, Vincent Muragwa last Friday officially handed over the office to his predecessor, Jean Batista Habyarimana.
Muragwa stepped down last August, citing the need to pursue further studies.

After receiving the mantle, at the district conference hall, Habyarimana pledged to collaborate with district management and the civil society in order to spur the district’s development.

He said good governance, health, agriculture and infrastructure development will be his priorities.

He added that he would work to build the capacity of the district workers from the cell levels.

Habyarimana overwhelmingly won the seat early this month after beating his rival Jean Bosco Misago, who got only 13 votes, out of 293 votes cast.

Habyarimana was the Rutsiro District Executive Secretary and he was also once the Mayor of the former Rusenyi District in 2003.
