FDRL loot residents in Kivu

Over 17 residents of Kalonge in South Kivu Province of DRC were looted over the weekend by FDRL rebels living residents homes ransacked.

According to the Chief Administrative Officer of Kalonge, the population was robbed of household items and money by the marauding rebels.

The spokesman of Operation Kimia II being conducted by Congolese forces and MONUC aimed at wiping out the rebels confirmed the incident.

According to the forces, one FDLR combatant was killed and two others were captured.

Phone thief nabbed

Police in Nyamirambo are holding a 37-year old man identified as George Mutangana who was caught by residents yesterday as he tried to break into a house in Cyivugiza cell in Nyamirambo sector.

The residents ran after him and found the phone in his possession and threatened to lynch him but he was later handed over to the police.

According to the police officials, Mutangana is a renowned thug and has a past theft record.

SACCO members boycott cooperative

Members of a Credit and Savings Cooperative in Kibungo sector of Ngoma district have started withdrawing their money after the cooperative incurred losses.

The withdrawal came after many members raised issues of failure to gain from the cooperative while some argue that they were not accessing their money.

The members said that the cooperative had lost over Rwf 18 million.
