Ex-district leader held over genocide

A local court in Karengera sector in Rusizi district yesterday opened case against former district leader alleged to have played a role in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

According to sources within the sector, the then district leader used to support the Interahamwe militias to kill Tutsis in the district he headed.

Burera residents celebrate achievements

Residents of Burera district in the Northern Province yesterday met to celebrate the achievements the district has made so far.

Among the achievements that were celebrated include the completion of the clean water project which district officials say left at least 70% of the district having access to clean water.

Members of different honey cooperatives in the country yesterday met in Rubavu to discuss how they can improve their business as there is a wider market for it.

The members were also briefed on the ways of treating honey to produce a better quality.
