Kagame meets Clinton’s advisor

URUGWIRO VILLAGE - President Paul Kagame yesterday received, at Urugwiro Village, Alec Ross, Senior advisor to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Their discussions centered on the use of innovations in Rwanda’s development efforts as well as other developing countries. They also discussed ways in which the US government can provide support to boost best practices.

URUGWIRO VILLAGE  - President Paul Kagame yesterday received, at Urugwiro Village, Alec Ross, Senior advisor to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Their discussions centered on the use of innovations in Rwanda’s development efforts as well as other developing countries. They also discussed ways in which the US government can provide support to boost best practices.

The US official arrived in Kigali from DRC on a follow-up mission to Secretary Clinton’s recent visit. He expressed appreciation for President Kagame’s leadership in the breakthrough that has helped to restore stability in Eastern DRC.

President Kagame pointed out that Rwanda was committed to promoting science and technology as the basis for innovation, particularly in enterpreneurship, and that the basic principle was investing in Rwandans as they are the nation’s biggest asset.

Alec Ross developed President Obama’s Innovation Agenda during the Presidential campaign, which determined many of the new administration’s early investments in issues including Health and IT.
