Watch out for Better Times

A person’s life is often characterized by changing trends of events that bring about varying feelings. There are times of celebration marked by success, joy, love and unity, times of peace and inevitably, hard times.

These are times when things do not work out as expected or they just turn upside down and when this happens few people stick by your side.

I would like to bring to your attention a movie called "The pursuit of Happiness”.

According to an online summary of the film; in 1981, in San Francisco, a smart salesman and family man Chris Gardner invested his family savings in Ostelo National bone-density scanners, an apparatus twice more expensive than x-ray with practically the same resolution.

The white elephant financially breaks the family, bringing troubles to the relationship with his wife who leaves him and moves to New York.

Without money and wife, but totally committed with his son Christopher, Chris sees the chance to fight for a stockbroker internship position at Dean Witter, disputing for one career in the end of six months training period without any salary with other twenty candidates.

Chris decides to do it but when his wife leaves and he is evicted, he has to take care of his son on his own.

So they find themselves sometimes living on the street and struggling to get by. But Chris is determined to make it.

He finally gets the job and their lives change for much better.

I need to say no more concerning the relief resulting from well-intentioned and focused perseverance in any situation but mine is to emphasize on the power of prayer and expectancy during such times.

Prayer or expectation alone may do nothing much to alleviate one’s situation during trouble but they help one to see beyond the problem, share the burden and hold on to hope. God endowed each person with a level of endurance but sadly some quickly give in to desperation and despair, never realizing their goals.

The best thing would be to pray, hope and work diligently for the better because nothing is impossible with God.
