LIVING LIFE : Go Crazy

‘‘The reasonable man adapts himself to the world. The unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.’’- George Bernard Shaw

‘‘The reasonable man adapts himself to the world. The unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.’’- George Bernard Shaw

How is it that some people always carry around a long face, complain of endless problems, eternal brokenness and an unhealthy dose of bad luck? How come they are the first to cry foul whenever someone else’ luck lands them a good opportunity to mint francs, or seem to have the best talents that every employer is in search of?

Is it just a case of eternal bad luck? Are some people just born with a silver spoon in their mouth as the saying goes or is everyone else just plain lazy?

The answer is Yes and No!

Yes, because every human being is gifted with the ability to think and think enough to scrape through a day’s meal at least, or so I would like to think. So is luck. How come some people are lucky and others are not?

No, there is no one who is just unlucky. As much as you would like to believe, luck is not dished out by God to his favourite children.

There is an abundance of luck for all of us to share in a way which we feel is adequate for each of us. As weird as it sounds, you need to chase your own luck, till you catch. Luck is not just hanging around and about waiting for the lone lost man or woman to fall into.

It’s everywhere lying in wait for people to claim, though you cannot see or hear it.

But you can feel it!

How does it feel like? – Like the feeling of knowing that you want something so bad that you could do anything to get it, are willing to go crazy about it.

Believe me; a normal human being with normal thoughts cannot make it big.

Think about the works ordinary, average, normal and I will tell you the majority of the world’s people, who are unfortunately poor.  It takes a certain level of craziness to be able to dream big and think achievement.

How would it help one to wear a gloomy face all over the place because the world is giving you donkey kicks every time?

If you really want to achieve something exceptional how will you when half of the time, you worry about how unfair life is?

If you think it is too embarrassing to be crazy once in a while, think about this. Bill Gates was told by his professor that he was going crazy because he dared envisage a computer, so he chose do drop out of Harvard University to pursue his dream.

Look where his craziness got him.
Barrack Obama told his future brother-in-law on a basketball court after Michelle had asked him to ‘check out this new guy’, that one day he wanted to be president.

His future brother-in-law laughed and advised him not to say it on the dinner table because he would look crazy and reduce his chances of marrying his sister. Look where his craziness got him.

The good thing with luck is that if you chose to be normal, remain in your comfort zone, and always want to make the people around you happy by conforming to their perceptions of you, luck will not waste time with you.

Luck is so busy looking for the right people that it has no time for people who wait for others to define their dreams. See, you don’t have to be going crazy.

You can decide to play the local neighbourhood game and not aspire to be anything greater than the village hero. Besides, there are a lot of ‘problems’ to think about, instead of dreaming big crazy dreams.

And well, if you choose to go crazy just a little, the world is waiting for you to conquer.

Otherwise, I wish you a going-crazy Sunday.
