As Rwanda commenced the 31st commemoration week of the Genocide against the Tutsi, Rwandan communities abroad were joined by foreign dignitaries and friends of Rwanda to commemoration over one million lives that lost in 100 days.
The commemoration activities were launched with President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame lighting a Flame of Hope at the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Gasabo district.
Thereafter, Rwandans in the country and abroad embarked on memorial events that were characterised by different activities including Walks to Remember, speeches and testimonies from survivors.
All over the world regional and continental organisations also joined Rwanda in commemorating the Genocide at the 31st edition. This includes Eastern African Community, African Union, the United Nations and Rwandan embassies (China, UK, USA, Zimbabwe, Zambia, India, France, Germany, among others.
The commemoration activities will go on for the next 100 days up to July 4 when we celebrate the National Liberation Day.

AFRICAN UNION
The commemoration was attended by officials from the government of Ethiopia, members of the diplomatic corps, international organisations, and the Rwandan community in Ethiopia.
