Population growth seminar concludes

Members of parliament from the Parliamentary Forum for Population together with church and local leaders over the weekend concluded a two day seminar on population growth.

Some of the key issues that were highlighted during the meeting include control of population growth through family planning methods.

Rutsiro highlights achievements

Rutsiro district officials and residents met over the weekend to celebrate the achievements that have been registered by the district during the first half of 2009.

The celebrations were also marked with the exhibition of a trophy awarded to Rutsiro recently for its performance.

The district was recently awarded the third best in performance contracts.

During the colorful function, residents bade farewell to Jean Baptiste Habyarimana, the former Executive Secretary of the district who resigned his job.

Environment campaign ends

Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) on Saturday completed its campaign aimed at sensitizing Bugesera residents on environmental protection.

REMA officials said that the residents are beginning to understand the importance of environment.
The residents were also sensitized on hygiene within their homes.

CMAC pays tribute to Genocide victims

The Capital Markets Advisory Council (CMAC) Board, Management and its members (brokerage firms) last week visited the Kigali Memorial Centre at Gisozi, to pay tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.

CMAC learnt through a guided tour about pre-colonial Rwanda and the historical steps that led to the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.

They also learnt about memory and justice, two important themes engaged through powerful photography, themes also emphasized by the government of Rwanda for national unity, reconciliation.

RPF meet over settlements

Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) members in Rwamagana district met to discuss future plans concerning the development of the district.

Among the issues discussed were how they will encourage the population to settle in communal estates (Imidugudu) to spur development in the district.

Governor meets residents over education

The Governor of the Southern Province, Fidele Ndayisaba, together with officials from the Ministry of Education, visited the residents of Kamonyi district to discuss the education development programmes in the district.

The residents pledged to continue moulding bricks for the construction of more classrooms as more classrooms are needed to support the 9-year basic education programme.
